A detailed termly calendar is now being released at least fortnight, included in our newsletter, to keep parents up to date with trips and learning activities occurring for the year. It is updated and amended, where necessary.
Payment plans for trips are sent out at the start of each term. For more expensive excursion, this is done a year in advance. Bespoke 121 payment plans are in place. However, we will tweak our letters to ensure that it directly refers to the availability of payment plans. |
The school building and playground were larger and there was more funding available for the school to invest in technology etc |
Considerable investment is currently taking place to develop the school’s digital strategy, with the excellent support from The Shaw Education Trust. We will be implementing 1 Ipad per child in the Spring term 2024. Laptops will be replaced too. We have also secured funding for a new promethean board in the Kingfishers class, which will further enhance teaching and learning in KS1.
Whilst we are unable to extend the school building, we have already made considerable investment over the past year to improve the learning environment with new doors, ceilings, lightings etc. The classrooms and corridors have been painted and are clean and bright. We are currently actively exploring funding routes to redesign our playgrounds on the main site, replacing the trim trail and playground surfaces. |
Communication could be slightly better with things that are upcoming. Reminder emails maybe as most parents are so busy things can be missed. |
We are in the process of expanding of our school use of social media to more varied platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, to be able to provide further timely reminders to the ones that are sent out via Parentmail. This will be launched in the Spring term 2024.
Reminders of up and coming events are sent fortnightly on the newsletter and calendar too. |

It wasn’t split over two sites. I don’t drive and will soon have three children at the school. The school is split over two sites approx 20 minutes apart on foot, and the window for collection is only 15 minutes. When my children are split between the sites I will be unable to collect all of them on time and will have little alternative than to pay for after school clubs |
The school has a window to cater provide ample time for parents to travel from one location to another via a range of methods, including via foot. We will always try to be flexible to support parents, where the need arises.
Our afterschool provision is very competitively priced and provides excellent care and engagement for pupil attending wrap around provision.
The school runs a range of free extra-curricular clubs for KS1 and KS2 throughout the week that support pupils to further develop- their interests and enriches their learning. The sessions end at 4:30pm and does alleviate time pressure on parents too. |

- I honestly can say I have no idea how the school could improve. It’s a lovely school with fabulous staff!
- The school and ALL the staff are amazing and make the school a truly remarkable place.

- My child received additional support daily focusing on his reading and writing, I have seen a massive change and focus and I am pleased with the progress he is making and the continued support the school give to him to help him reach his potential.
- I cannot praise the school enough for the support they have provided for my son’s individual needs.

Detailed newsletters are sent out fortnightly. Newsletters are uploaded on our website. Paper copies can be found at Reception. Family members (such as grandparents) have been provided with paper copies, when requested.
They have a new calendar for the year, with fortnightly updates where changes are highlighted.
Clear times have been identified regarding sending communication for day-to-to-day changes, trips or school events to parents in order to give sufficient notice.
Day-to-day changes are communicated via text and/or email at least a week in advance, unless changes have to occur due to unforeseen and unavoidable reasons.

One school improvement priority is currently about generating income to aid the school e.g. fundraisers such as Quiz Nights, Auctions, Own Clothes day. The school is actively working with the Shaw Education Trust’s team to explore ways to develop our infrastructure and networking and modernism our personal devices in order to move towards 121 Ipads. Procuring funding is a focus. |
Crossing outside of main school site was safer |
School has contacted highways to raise the issue of the speed at which vehicle travel on the A531. We will continue to work with the local parish council and highways to address this issue.
A crossing patrol is located next to the monument at the start/end of every school day. Speed warning signs are on display on the main road. A new parking sign has been purchased to encourage the school community to park safely and responsibly.

It made more use of its affiliates with the high school |
The school has a strong relationship with local high school and continues to look for ways to develop this. We utilise the venue for sporting occasions, D&T and theatrical performances. Two members of the leadership team are on our school’s governing body. The high school provides us with use of their minibus so that we can access enrichment opportunities, such as sporting competitions. We have students from Madeley School (including past students from The Meadows) support our pupils in extra-curricular clubs each week, volunteering for their Duke of Edinburgh awards, as well as for work experience. We work collaboratively with staff from Madeley High School on our curriculum design, such as in Science and Spanish. Our pupils have attended workshops and enrichment activities alongside the high school, such as a visit with the Animal Man and a drama workshop. The high school invite us to attend performances to support their Drama students such as performances the students have created about anti-bullying. Our safeguarding teams work collaboratively, sharing best practice, to promote the safety and wellbeing of all our students. Our staff have a strong knowledge of the high school’s curriculum, as a result of CPD, to support our pupils to be ‘Secondary Ready’. Our transition with the high school is strong – staff from Madeley visit our children at school at different points of the year, including teachers, heads of year, SLT and the SENCO to aid a successful and positive transition. Gifted mathematicians in the Hawks class attend monthly Maths afternoons to promote the depth of their learning. We continue to look for ways we can further enrich our provision by working collaboratively with the high school. |

The school’s mission is for our pupils to be successful, both personally and academically. The school has a well-designed Personal Development Curriculum, which is enriched by workshops led by external agencies such as Glow, who delivered ‘Relationships without Fear’ workshops. The school has successfully implemented the new ‘Red 2 Blue’ approach to promote personal development and self-regulation. A new personal success and wellbeing curriculum has been created, which indicates where personal development is promoted throughout the curriculum. Our approach has been recognised as a strength worthy of sharing by the trust in our recent Health Check.
We have a mental health team to support the needs of our pupils in school. Mrs Kuffour is currently participating in Senior Mental Health Training with Progressive Minds. Mrs Davies and Mrs Panagi have completed a coaching course in the ‘Red 2 Blue’ approach.
The school has Wellbeing Champions who actively promote positive mental wellbeing with their peers.
The school works with a range of external agencies to provide bespoke support for individuals, where required. The school employs Emotion Coaches to support the wellbeing needs of our community.
The school actively promotes British Values in a range of ways, including: our culture and ethos; discrete PSHE lessons; cross-curricular lessons e.g. RE; assemblies; our behaviour policy etc.
The school actively promotes the interests and successes of individual pupils. For example, we have pupils who have led community assemblies sharing their passions with the school community. We have had children leading fundraising activities for different charities. We celebrate successes from inside and outside of school at our ‘Celebrations Assembly’. |
