This term our class will be learning about:

 

Blitzed Brits

(History)

During this unit we will explore life in Britain during World War Two. The big question we will be exploring is:

What does this photograph indicate about life in Britain during WW2?

The children will have the opportunity to explore various sources of primary and secondary evidence in order to answer this question, including artefacts and propaganda. They will learn about life for children during the war, particularly those who were evacuated.

During guided reading, they will also explore famous texts set within this time, such as 'Goodnight Mr Tom', 'Friend or Foe' and the Horrible Histories 'Blitzed Brits' text.

 

Body Pump

During the course of the unit, we will explore the following questions:

  • What does my circulatory system do?
  • What is a heart and what does it do?
  • What is blood?
  • What is in blood?
  • What do values and blood vessels do?
  • What happens to water in our bodies?

 

Poetic Voice

In this unit, the children explore free verse poems, focusing in depth on the work of two poets –Ted Hughes and John Agard. They focus on imagery and explore different language patterns. They write poems based on a model and present a free verse poem in letter form.

  • Converting measures –length
  • FDP
  • Percentages
  • Division
