On Tuesday the 27th of June, we had a very special visitor; his name is Richard and he was from the British Red Cross. He came to teach us (the year six students) all about first aid. We were taught these skills to ensure that we know what to do in medical emergencies.
Richard took no time in introducing himself, and before we knew it, we were starting our activities. We were taught basic first aid, such as CPR.
We also discussed how to react in an emergency if we saw someone injured who needed help. We were split into four groups and were given bags containing many props to create either: a performance, poem, rap, song, freeze frame or story. Everybody chose to create a play script showing how to deal with certain situations. We then had around 20 minutes to create and practice our performance before we performed it! Here are some pictures of the Y6s showing their performance:
‘I liked the role play and it was very entertaining to watch different scenarios!’ Poppy - Year 6
‘I loved how Richard really got to know us and really helped us to develop our first aid skills!’ Ella - Year 6
‘My favourite part was when we all got to show off our amazing performances!’ Alistair- Year 6
‘I feel like these skills that Richard taught us will definitely come in useful and I really found it fun learning crucial First Aid skills.’ Joe- Year 6
