On the 7th December Mrs Edwards held an assembly about the writing for pleasure that we will be doing every term. This is where we are able to write a piece of work that is to our desire. Some examples of work that we could do are: a story, a poem, a news article, a report, a letter and many more! The writing for pleasure is when every term all of the school are going to have a Big Write where you can write about whatever you want.

She showed us a video of an advert for Waitrose (the one with the bird) that we were allowed to take ideas from for our Big Write. Next we watched Michael Morpurgo’s story of ‘Coming Home’: it was the same sort of principal where the bird wants to get home and faces lots of dangers. Some examples of such dangers were: humans, the wind, the rain and a hawk! Some people thought this was emotional and depressing as the robin nearly dies. One pupil said that she thought the background music was very calming and makes the story more relaxing.’ (Amy, Year 5)

Some people were going to take ideas from the 'Coming Home' story for their big write some people suggested that you could magpie the dangers the story and uses them with a different animal.
