Teeth check-up!

Last week in Class 2 we had a visit from a local Dental Nurse who was able to help us to keep our teeth nice and healthy as part of our science learning about taking care of ourselves and our amazing bodies. Children know the importance for good health of physical exercise and a healthy diet, and can talk about ways to keep healthy and safe. They are able to make healthy choices in relation to healthy eating and exercise.  We sorted healthy foods and unhealthy foods then had a go at brushing our teeth correctly using a model and giant-sized toothbrush! Finally we were able to play some games and quizzes to test what we had learnt.

During the course of the session the children showed they were successful in being able to:

·         Sort food in different ways.

·         Describe the importance for humans of eating the right amounts of different types of food.

·         Show an understanding of health and hygiene.

The children learnt new and interesting facts. They told me:

Charlie – “I didn’t realise you had to use mouthwash before brushing.”

Adam – “I enjoyed being the ‘bad’ tooth in the game to choose what is bad for my teeth!”

Poppy – “I liked doing the maze game to find the right food.”
