SEN Link Governor Blog – Jun 2015

As ever, supporting our children that require extra support with their learning continues to be a priority at The Meadows, and some of the changes we have made over the last 9 months are continuing to deliver results, particularly where Mrs Jones has a central role in supporting the children, along with the interventions we have in place in the form of ‘precision teaching’ This has recently been assessed and approved by Judith Till from Staffs County Council, who praised the work done by the staff at the school in this area.

As usual, when I visit the school, I like to see examples of the work being produced by the children, and compare it to work from 6 months previous, as I think this demonstrates the progress made by our children in a much more realistic way, than simply looking at data, and as always, you can see a clear step forward in the level of work being achieved.

Unfortunately I have to step down from my position as governor, due to some new work commitments, and we are therefore looking for a new Parent Governor. It’s a role that is extremely rewarding, and you do get an insight to the challenges faced every day by our teaching staff. Acting as the link governor for SEN has also been enlightening, and I would encourage anybody who wants to know more about the way their children’s education is provided to get involved.
