This week, the children in Class 3 have been consolidating their own on rocks by studying fossils. The children started by researching how fossils were formed. Many of the children then created their own cartoon strip to show the process.
After this, the children then had the chance to make their own fossils (which have hopefully made it home to you this afternoon)! Unfortunately, Mrs Edwards was very dusty after this experiment and decided she would keep teaching rather than changing to a career in painting and decorating. The children thoroughly enjoyed creating these out of clay and plaster (though probably enjoyed laughing at the mess more).
Today, the children then researched where you could find fossils and the famous fossil collector, Mary Anning. Below is some of the work produced.
They also created artistic impressions of fossils using tissue paper to create texture.
The children have been fantastic rock detectives! They will be using their information about Mary Anning to plan and write a playscript about her life for the remainder of the week.
